I am directed by Mr. Cardwell and Mr. de Grey and Ripon to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, dated 28th September, by referring to the communication from this Office of the 11th of the same Month, respecting the land to be reserved on the Kowloon Peninsula for the construction of Barracks and Batteries, and to request you for the information of the Duke of Cambridge, that Mr. de Grey has no objection to offer to the modified arrangements proposed, selecting the site for a Battery on the extreme West Point, Kowloon, provided that, in the event of it being necessary
